- Business ForumOne of the best aspects of collaboration is that we can develop the ability to work with others towards achieving common goals and wellbeing for all. The level of satisfaction we obtain in life when we overcome the barriers of egos and transcends the limitations of individualism is extremely high! At “Tu Espacio” we are promoting learning, work, businesses, and life through the value of collaboration. Our team is aiming towards impacting excellence in the greatest number of people. If you are looking for personal and professional development and you are reading this, you are on the right path. The different levels of personal development have a high component of social learning and interactions. For that reason, we need to focus on how we can improve to increase the capacity of working and learning with others. Humans are not designed to live in isolation. We are impacting others through social support and increasing our capacity for resilience. A great example of collaboration is in our body and cells. Erick Kandel has the Nobel Prize of Medicine in 2000, with his research in cancer and nerve system cells. In his findings, he emphasized how the cells that are in a poor environment get sick and die, while the cells that are in a nurturing environment grow in wellness and support each other in wellness. Here I want to highlight two aspects that are key for collaboration: nurturing environments and supporting each other in wellness. First, being in a nurturing environment will not only help you be a healthy person and socially intelligent, it also will help you develop a social network that will impact your community everywhere we are, work, family and society. Second, supporting each other in wellness, increases our capacity for success, learning from others in their experiences of triumph and failures. This discovering translates into human interaction. Society then emphasizes the belief that social support and collaboration are the foundation of healthy individuals, families and communities. “Tu Espacio” is also an example of collaboration for the Spanish community. We are joining efforts, talents, and ideas to serve the community, helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals in all areas of growth and to successfully integrate to build a more diverse and better Canada. In tune with the holiday seasons, at “Tu Espacio” we want to invite you to take this time to reflect on how, you our dear reader, wish to start promoting your own personal and professional plans of collaboration in the New Year! Join us at “Tu Espacio” to continue building a community where collaboration plays a great role. If you want to know more how we can support, you can connect with us and become part of our community. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year and may your wishes of love, peace and collaboration become true for the 2020. Patricia Cruz Organizational – Personal Consultant Member team - Tu EspacioLike
- Business ForumEssential People Skills People skills are an essential part of work, life and social success. When you have strong people skills, you are better able to: 1. Pitch yourself 2. Overcome social anxiety 3. Communicate 4. Motivate - your ideas Influence others positively But what are people skills? People skills are the tools you use to communicate and interact effectively with others. Individuals with strong people skills are able to predict behavior, relate to others and socialize easily. People skills also are known as soft skills, interpersonal skills, social skills, emotional intelligence and interpersonal Intelligence. Research even has found that people who have strong people skills make an average of $29,000 more per year! People skills are one of the most underappreciated areas of career development. In career development, we are lucky if we have the occasional soft skills training or communication course. I believe interpersonal intelligence, or PQ needs to be honed. Just as we develop our IQ, we need to work on our PQ. People smarts are just as important as book smarts. Researchers define people skills as three sets of abilities: First, someone’s personal effectiveness. As a people skill, personal effectiveness is all about how you come across to others. Are you able to pitch yourself? Can you communicate clearly? Can you get what you need from others? Someone with strong personal effectiveness typically also has a memorable first impression and a confident presence with the people they meet. Second, is your interaction ability. This is how well you predict and decode behavior. In an interaction, can you empathize with someone? Are you highly perceptive? Finally, someone with strong people skills is able to intercede easily. This means they are able to lead, influence and build bridges between people. Are you a connector? A mediator? Now, if you want to know the top ten people Skills everyone should know, and master them do not miss our next article. At Tu Espacio, we want all of our members to connect in the most efficient way. Therefore, this blog will be providing insightful information to help you examine your own interpersonal strengths and hopefully help you to sharpen your people skills. I will also talk about the skills that come up over and over again with highly effective individuals, to better understand their best practices to mirror them and make the most out of our own interpersonal skills. Stay tuned and let’s connect efficiently!Like
